Apply for Approval of Continuing Education Activities

RMTs who wish to take continuing education activities that are not yet on the Approved Continuing Education Activities – Cycle 12 list and receive continuing education credits (CECs) must apply for approval from CMTBC. The approval process varies, depending on the type of continuing education activity you wish to take.

Practical education

For practical education (PE) continuing education activities, RMTs can submit the application form on behalf of a course provider/instructor, or ask the course provider/instructor to submit the form.

Professional development – online courses

For professional development (PD) continuing education activities, course providers/instructors must submit the application form, to ensure the required documentation is included.

Professional development – university courses

For PD CECs from university courses, RMTs must submit the following form:

Professional development - conference pre-approval

For PD CECs for conferences, conference organizers must submit the following form:

Important notes

As an RMT, it is your responsibility to ensure that the continuing education you plan to take is eligible for CECs, if you intend to report CECs upon completion of the activity. Also keep the following in mind:

  • Continuing education activities that were approved by CMTBC for previous cycles are not necessarily approved for Cycle 12 – criteria for approval have changed. See Criteria for Approval of Continuing Education Activities for the current criteria CMTBC uses to decide if continuing education activities are eligible for credits.
  • Courses approved by other Canadian regulatory colleges are not necessarily approved by CMTBC.
  • RMTs can submit the appropriate application form after a continuing education activity has begun or been completed, but there is no guarantee that the activity will be approved for CECs.

The process of approval of Continuing Education Activities in all categories can take up to six weeks.

September 6, 2021 is the last date applications for approval will be accepted for inclusion in Cycle 12.
